APPEARANCE
Maleficent is very obviously not human; if that fact wasn't apparent from the huge bird wings attached to her back or the large, sharp horns winding up from her head.... there are other tells. Like most fae, her ears are long and pointed, and she is very angular-featured, her cheekbones and the bones in her shoulders being abnormally sharp. Her nails are quite long and also very sharp, and her eyes are a bright golden hue, with green further circling her irises, giving her eyes an eerie, catlike appearance. Within her wide mouth are fangs (which can be seen when she hisses at people or flashes threatening grins!)Apart from those things, her general appearance is of a very slender, lithe woman around 5'7'' / 169cm tall, though her horns tend to make her seem even taller, giving her presence at least a foot of added height. Style-wise, Maleficent tends to wear very dark colours: black, dark golds, and dark greens. She enjoys a variety of styles, though favours long dresses that cover her form: often with adornments such as lace, fur, and raven skulls. She nearly always has a staff in hand, from which she can directly channel her magic. She also often wears headpieces over her horns to cover all of her hair, though when her hair is down, it is dark, long, straight, and parted in the middle.
ABILITIES
[ β¦ ] abilities of Fae magic + Phoenix magicAs a Dark Fairy / Fey / Fae (different spellings, same thing!), Maleficent was born with very ancient magic. Her powers have two very different types and are essentially a reflection of her moral state. When she's using them for helpful / healing / just generally neutral purposes, her magic is GOLDEN. When they are for something much more wicked / with darker or harmful intention, her magic is a venomous GREEN. Depending on which end of the spectrum her magic is being unleashed from, her eye colour will also change along with it β her eyes becoming either more golden or more green.
Very recently, she has further learned about her origins: she is the last descendant of the Phoenix (in this canon, the Phoenix is an ancient ancestor of the birdlike Dark Fey), which is why her magic is so powerful. Her magic is capable of both "life and death, destruction and rebirth", and therefore an explanation for why her healing magic is golden and her harmful magic is green. The abilities her magic enables her to do are listed below:
β’ spell casting / curse inducement β Maleficent's magic is incredibly powerful, so powerful that she can cast binding spells and curses with it. She does not require spellwords, ritual, or potions, and can even alter her curses in the midst of casting them.
β’ nature manipulation β This is a vast spectrum, within which Maleficent has many abilities of manipulation, including: atmokinesis (weather), chlorokinesis (plants), and terrakinesis (earth, rock, etc.) She can move, reshape, repurpose, alter, etc. these things with her magic.
β’ healing magic β With her magic, Maleficent can heal people, plants, and anything living.
β’ telekinesis β She can move objects and people via nonphysical means, including controlling their movements, levitating them, throwing them, etc.
β’ transfiguration / shapeshifting β Maleficent can (and often does) use her magic to transform materials around her for another use (for example, turning a twig into a staff with which to harness her magic, making clothing out of cloth or leather, etc). This ability may also be used to turn living creatures into other living creatures (she can turn them back! It's fine!) Maleficent has also very recently unlocked the ability to turn herself into the form of The Phoenix.
[ β¦ ] abilities of physicality
As an inhuman being, Maleficent naturally comes with various inhuman capabilities:
β’ wing abilities β She can fly via a pair of very large and powerful wings, raven-like in structure. Her wings can also be used as weapons: generating wind gusts powerful enough to send grown men flying, or cutting through people with the razor sharp clawtips on the alulae.
β’ inhuman strength & senses β Her strength is not invincible and it has its limits, but she is quite physically stronger than a human. She also has very strong senses; she can see perfectly clearly in the dark, hear from great distances, smell whether someone is human or not, etc. She also has a sense connected to life and death, able to feel the life and death of her lands and their residents.
β’ advanced & accelerated healing β Maleficent can be injured, but if the source of the injury were removed, her body would almost instantly heal itself. This is also true even against iron, which is what she is the weakest to; if she is no longer touching it, she will recover from its burns. Even when her wings were severed from her body by iron burning, they remained "alive" for sixteen years, and were able to reattach to her body and heal. However, if iron pierces her body deeply enough, it will take her longer to heal (such as being shot with an iron bullet, or stabbed).
β’ immortality / resurrection β Being a descendant of the Phoenix, Maleficent cannot be permanently killed, and will respawn within moments.
